Young People Celebrate Arts Award Achievement

On Mon 29 Jan, we celebrated the 15 young people who achieved their Bronze Arts Award with us in 2023. They joined us with their invited guests at our city-centre Barnfield Theatre for an evening of canapés, certificates, and well-deserved pats on the back.

WHAT IS AN ARTS AWARD?

An Arts Award is a qualification for people under 25, helping them to prepare for their futures by developing life-long skills such as creativity, communication, and leadership. Achieving a Bronze Arts Award involves:

  • Actively participating in an art form (this case, theatre)
  • Experiencing at least one arts event and reviewing it
  • Researching the career and work of an artist or craftsperson
  • Passing on an arts skill

Our participants achieved all this in only a week, and the impressive portfolios they created are a tribute to their incredible hard work. This is demonstrated by the official moderator’s final comments on their portfolios:

“I can see that the young people have had lots of fun and enriching experiences… Well done all!”

With thanks to the Jack Riley Trust for its kind support.

FEEDBACK ON THE OPPORTUNITY

“Oliver really enjoyed the experience that was gained throughout the week. He made new friends and really boosted his confidence… Lisa and Jacob looked after them well – thanks to them for this amazing experience.”

– Feedback from Wayne Phillip

“Rose has loved her week completing the Bronze Arts Award. It was great for her confidence meeting new people. Lisa and Jacob were so supportive to Rose and she feels really proud of what she has achieved.

Thank you Exeter Northcott.”

– Feedback from a participant’s parent/carer
