“Stunning” La Strada comes to the Northcott

A critically acclaimed new stage adaptation of Federico Fellini’s La Strada will run at Exeter Northcott Theatre in May.

La Strada ‘The Road’, a metaphor for life, is a deeply impassioned tale of love and loss. We journey into the heart of the Italian countryside where Gelsomina, full of the innocent spirit of youth, is bought by Zampano, a travelling street performer, to join his ‘strong man’ act. When the mismatched pair stumble across a ragtag circus and a daredevil tight-rope walker, Gelsomina finds herself caught between the two men, not knowing which way to turn…
This stunning new stage adaptation is directed by Olivier Award nominee Sally Cookson (Jane Eyre & Peter Pan National Theatre, Hetty Feather West End) and boasts a beautiful new score by Benji Bower with songs performed by an international cast of actor musicians.

Moving between the dazzling lights of the circus and the bare landscapes of rural Italy, this production of La Strada promises to be a theatrical feast for all the senses.
