‘Swearing, Drinking, Race and Sex’ – Panel Discussion

Over recent years, books for young people have become increasingly more sexually explicit, increasingly more violent and deal more readily with difficult issues.  Consider for example, Melvin Burgess’s Junk, Abomination or Kevin Brook’s Bunker Diary.  This panel, with children’s authors David Almond and Meg Roscoff, and children’s publisher, David Fickling, will discuss whether recent books have stepped over a line of appropriacy for the teenage audience or whether it is adults, not teenagers, who think these texts should not be shared with young people.

This event is part of exetreme imagination, Exeter’s festival of writing and stories. For more festival events and information, go to exetreme.org
