Open call-out: Composer/Musical Director

For a production of a new play by Sarah Dickenson at Exeter Northcott Theatre.

We are seeking a Musical Director, based in the South West of the UK, for a new play by Sarah Dickenson.

The play will be professionally produced on the main stage of the Northcott Theatre, directed by Creative Director Martin Berry, and will include a large community cast led by a professional actress in the leading role.  Design is by Fi Russell.

Ensemble rehearsals will take place on either Monday or Thursday evenings from July – October, plus a few Saturdays.

Full-time professional rehearsals will take place during late September and early October.

The MD will be needed for about three quarters of rehearsals, and we can create a flexible schedule accordingly.

The production and performance period will run 15th – 23rd October 2024. (These dates are vital and cannot be negotiated.)

Key skills

We are seeking a dynamic, experienced musical director to write music for the show, to play live in the show itself and to lead the teaching of music to the community cast.  Therefore, composition skills, performance accompaniment skills and confidence working with professional and community performers are vital.

Fee

We are offering a fee of £3,000 plus all expenses for this role.
