“Hilarious, angry, and blazing with honesty”
By Andrea Dunbar
Directed by Kate Wasserberg
Best friends Rita and Sue get a lift home from married Bob after babysitting his kids. When he takes the scenic route and offers them a bit of fun, the three start a fling each of them think they control.
Andrea Dunbar’s semi-autobiographical play, written for the Royal Court Theatre in 1982 when she was just 19, is a funny, touching and vibrant play. Full of wicked humour, it’s a vivid portrait of two teenage girls growing up in 80s Bradford. Both are hungry for adult adventure, but are they ready for the fall-out?
Rita Sue and Bob Too was adapted into a cult 80s film, called one of the great British comedies by The Spector. Now, see Dunbar’s incredible play live on stage! The cast includes Gemma Dobson, who won a UK Theatre Award for her portrayal of the titular Sue.
