Princess Ida – G&S 2016

  • Show Information

This exciting new production sets W.S Gilbert’s libretto and Sir Arthur Sullivan’s beloved score in the Edwardian era amid a backdrop of suffragette unrest. An arranged marriage between Prince Hilarion and Princess Ida is due to be formalised. On the appointed day however, her father arrives to inform the Prince that she has defied his orders and run away to start a university exclusively for women. Hilarion, with the help of his friends, embarks upon a quest to infiltrate the University and win his wife back. Ida – now a leader in the suffragette movement – must choose between her family, Hilarion, and her freedom.
