Ballet Black
Tues 27 & Weds 28 May 7.30pm

Following acclaimed performances in 2013, Cassa Pancho’s company of black and Asian classically trained dancers highlights and celebrates the talents of black and Asian dancers from around the world. Founded in 2001, Ballet Black has achieved great success and garnered numerous awards, including the 2012 Critics’ Circle National Dance Award for Best Independent Company.

For their return to Exeter Northcott, the Company are delighted to present a triple bill of new work with exciting ballets from two of Britain’s best choreographers, Christopher Marney (Gothenburg Ballet, New Adventures), and Martin Lawrance (Richard Alston Dance Company). Award-winning dance maker, Arthur Pita (Gods Garden, Showboat, The Metamorphosis) creates Ballet Black’s newest narrative ballet.

“A combination of the enthusiastic rigour of these busy dancers and the ability of their choreographers to shine a light on so much life with such little embellishment gave this evening in the company of Ballet Black a powerful and lasting resonance.”
