Lily gets gunged for the Exeter Northcott charity
When eleven-year-old Lily Robbie from Offwell wrote in to the theatre saying she’d like to find a way to support the Exeter Northcott charity, we couldn’t wait to meet her!
She explained that she could choose a charity to support for the Torbay and Devon Civic Award, designed to promote good citizenship in schools and their communities. Lily loves theatre and, having found new friends and confidence through theatre workshops, she was keen to give back so that other children could also experience the joy of theatre.
She started a ‘Guess the Name of the Teddy Bear’ competition in her school in support of he Exeter Northcott charity. £100 was raised and the name revealed as Cocoa!
When we invited Lily to come and see our panto Jack and the Beanstalk, we hit upon an idea – could Lily raise more by entering the ‘How Dairy Tank’ and getting gunged for charity? It was going to take a lot of courage and some good shampoo, but Lily was up for the challenge. As Dame Trott said, ‘What an absolute legend!’
Our sincere thanks go out to Lily and her family for their amazing support.
As the wonderful Lily says, ‘Sometimes you just have to put yourself out there.’
Would you like to get gunged for the Northcott charity? If you’d like to take part in a similar challenge or have other ideas to support the cause, we’d love to hear from you.
