To mark Deaf Awareness Week 2025, we’re excited to announce that we’re committing to British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted, captioned, and audio-described performances for every Made By Exeter Northcott production, in partnership with Complete Communication, part of The Inclusivity Group.

Having recently returned to producing new productions, Exeter Northcott will stage five new shows in the forthcoming year. For the first time, each production will have captioning available alongside audio-described and BSL-interpreted shows, provided by Devon’s Complete Communication, who are part of The Inclusivity Group.

Exeter Northcott Joint Chief Executives Emma Stephenson, Kelly Johnson, and Martin Berry said, “We’re very excited to be celebrating our ongoing partnership with Complete Communication, and the companies within The Inclusivity Group. Our new commitment to providing captioned, BSL-interpreted, audio-described, and relaxed performances for every Made by Exeter Northcott production is another positive step in our mission to support everyone in the South West to live a full creative life. We’re incredibly grateful for the brilliant team at The Inclusivity Group for making it possible.”

Daryl McMullan, co-founder and CEO of The Inclusivity Group (pictured with co-founder Rhiannon Squance) added, “The Inclusivity Group, which includes Complete Communication, Complete Training, and Complete Independence, is extremely proud to partner with Exeter Northcott to break down barriers in the arts for deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent people.

By providing BSL/English interpreting, captioning, and audio description, and enhancing knowledge through training and consultancy, we’re making theatre truly inclusive, because everyone deserves the chance to experience the power of the arts.”

Our next Made by Exeter Northcott prodcution is Romeo & Juliet, running at the Northcott Theatre 2 – 12 Jul 2025. This will be followed by two more new shows, yet to be announced, and then the family pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk (27 Nov 2025 – 4 Jan 2026).
