Every year, the National Youth Theatre run courses around the UK for young people ages 14 – 25 who want to become members. Led by industry professionals, the courses focus on developing key theatre-making and performance skills including voice, movement, characterisation, improvisation, text work, and devising. Each course culminates in a sharing of devised work to family and friends. Different membership courses are available depending on your age, where you’re based, and whether you want to take part in the summer, on weekends, or online.
Entry to these courses is via audition only, and auditions are held between October 2024 and March 2025. On the day, you’ll take part in a group workshop, then perform a monologue in a one-to-one audition.
In order to audition, you must be between the ages of 14 – 25 (or up to age 30 if learning disabled) on Thu 31 July 2025. If you are successful, ID to verify your age may be required before the course start date.
For the first time ever, we are hosting auditions at our city-centre Barnfield Theatre. Find out more and sign up to audition on the National Youth Theatre website.
