Shadowing and Placements

Elevate’s placement strand has been set up in acknowledgement of three things:

• That people learn in different ways
• That there are elements of creating mid-scale work which need demystifying
• That there are a range of barriers which prevent artist engaging with opportunities to learn in the room

Assistant roles

These are paid roles on selected Northcott productions which offer local artists the chance to learn on the job alongside experienced professionals and contribute creatively to the process they are part of. This allows creatives to learn by doing and supports them in bypassing potential financial barriers to their continued development. All Assistant roles are announced through open call-outs.

Rehearsal chair

Always wanted to know what goes on in the rehearsal room for a professional production? We now offer the opportunity to come and watch the goings-on in a working rehearsal room. A strictly observational invitation, our rehearsal chair scheme is designed to give creatives an insight into the parts of mid-scale working which might feel unclear to them, allowing them to make that next step with more confidence when the time comes. All rehearsal chair slots are offered on a voluntary basis and will be announced through open call-outs.

1-to-1 conversations

Come and have a coffee and a chat with one of the professional artists working in a range of roles on a Northcott Production – we know it is not always possible to engage with daytime continuous personal development opportunities for a number of reasons, and so we are committed to finding times for facilitating these conversations in a slot that works for you. All 1-to-1 slots are announced through open call-outs.
