About Ghostlight Productions
Ghostlight Productions is a theatre company founded by University of Exeter students, brought together by a shared passion for new writing and the creative possibilities of technical theatre. Their mission is to create “tech-forward theatre”: work where design and storytelling develop alongside one another from the very beginning.
They are passionate about bringing performers, writers, directors and designers into the room together from the very beginning. Rather than treating performance and technical design as separate parts of the process, they encourage everyone to experiment, play and shape the work collaboratively. Since launching their first independent production in May 2024, the company have continued to explore new ways of making theatre, creating opportunities for early-career artists to learn from one another and develop ambitious new work together.

Joe is a freelance Lighting Programmer and Associate Designer working internationally across theatre, live performance and events. He is particularly interested in collaborative, technically ambitious work that brings together theatre design and emerging technology.
Millie Koplick: Co Artistic Director & Associate Director (pictured right)
Millie is a Director with experience across new writing, musicals and contemporary plays. She is driven by work that rediscovers and reimagines classic tales, amplifies unheard voices and creates a vision that speaks to modern audiences.

Being an associate at Exeter Northcott Theatre is such a privilege, as a venue it’s been a large part of our theatrical journey having both worked here behind the scenes while studying. Having the support to develop new work is incredibly exciting and has allowed us to meet and collaborate with many other theatre-makers from the South West. We look forward to seeing where our work goes next as we continue bringing innovative technical design and new writing together.

Ghostlight Production’s Work
Exposure: A Horror Story
Developed by Ghostlight Productions, Exposure: A Horror Story is an adrenaline-filled psychological horror that asks what happens when the search for truth crosses an ethical line. Set in a psychiatric hospital in 1985, the play followed two doctors documenting their increasingly disturbing sessions with a young woman who believes she is being haunted by her deceased husband. As the camera begins to glitch and unexplainable events unfold, the line between delusion and the supernatural starts to fracture.
Ghostlight Productions developed this show in 2024, supported by Exeter Drama Department Cymbeline Prize, Exeter Student Guild‘s Creative Project Fund, and Exeter Alumni Fund.
Alice by Laura Wade
Co-produced by Ghostlight Productions and EUTCo, Laura Wade’s Alice marked Ghostlight’s first production at Exeter Northcott Theatre. This bold reimagining of Lewis Carroll’s classic story brought together playful storytelling and imaginative technical design, beginning an important new chapter for the company.
KILN
Created with writer Kayleigh Mai Hinsley, the project centres a story of mixed heritage identity in rural Devon, addressing a perspective that remains significantly underrepresented on South West stages. The project will culminate in a public showing at the Exeter Northcott Theatre’s Elevate Festival in November 2026.
KILN is a solo show about belonging, acceptance and the power of storytelling, set against the backdrop of the Hunting of the Earl of Rone festival in Combe Martin.
Tara, a girl of mixed heritage living in Combe Martin, rewrites the story of the Earl of Rone for her younger brother Jed, who has begun having nightmares about the Earl’s murder. Through this, she interrogates for the first time the traditions she has grown up around and what they mean for her.
