Reclaim Festival: Washing Machine Vortex

  • Show Information

A ‘Greek-style’ tragedy!

While doing the washing for her elderly father, one woman dives into the swirling cycles of her past — confronting psychoanalysis, patriarchy, and the spirit of Electra herself. Blending autobiography, visual storytelling, and a rocking 60s soundtrack this 50-minute experimental theatre show creates something deeply personal and defiantly bold.

Post-menopausal power. Gender, sexuality & ageing. Dementia, families & forgotten selves.

“Did Freud really understand women when he wrote that penis envy stuff?”

Post-show discussion

Following the performance, you are invited to join an intimate and informal discussion sparked by ideas from the show, ranging from using personal experience in performance making to how caregiving roles affect gender identities. This will take place in the bar.
