English Touring Opera – Gluck: Orpheus & Eurydice

  • Show Information

Eternal love, with a price to pay.

The grief-stricken Orpheus strikes a deal with the Gods to rescue his lost love, Eurydice. But descending to the Underworld comes at a steep price – Orpheus must resist the temptation to look at Eurydice until they return to the surface, or risk an eternity without her.

Orpheus & Eurydice is brought to life in a powerful retelling of this timeless story of ill-fated love by acclaimed director and movement specialist Jenny Ogilvie, uniting Gluck’s music with dance and a new orchestration from composer Leo Grant, whose recent compositions have been performed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, in Aldeburgh, Amsterdam and New York and has released electronic music on Goldie’s Metalheadz label.

Performed in English with English captions.

This performance contains smoke and haze.
