French Without Tears

French Without Tears cast, mid-performance

                                                                   Fri 16 – Sat 24 September 2016

Following last year’s critically acclaimed sold out run, Orange Tree Theatre and English Touring Theatre in association with Exeter Northcott Theatre present French Without Tears, the sparkling comedy by Terence Rattigan.

After a group of young men arrive at Monsieur Maingot’s French school for the summer to cram for the Diplomatic exam, their concentration is disrupted by beautiful visitor Diana Lake. Quelle surprise, they must learn another new language: girls.

At first, it seems pretty simple. Kit loves Diana and she loves him. And Bill. Oh, and darling Alan, of course. Then there’s Jack: she’s in love too. Meanwhile, Babe conceals his feelings… Not so simple after all.

Paul Miller directs Ziggy Heath as Alan, Alistair Toovey as Kenneth (Babe), Alex Large as Brian, Beatriz Romilly as Jacqueline, Tim Delap as Commander Rogers, Joe Eyre as Kit, David Whitworth as Monsier Maingot, Ariana Gray as Marianna, Florence Roberts as Diana.

Don’t miss a rare chance to see Rattigan’s ravishing 1930s comedy of young love and stiff upper lips.

This tour launches the Regional Touring Network, an Arts Council England Strategic Touring consortium of nine regional venues with whom ETT produce and tour high quality drama to venues looking to develop their drama audience. The Regional Touring Network includes venues in Exeter, Harrogate, Barnstaple, Cheltenham, Doncaster, Poole, Warwick, Oldham, and Huddersfield.
