Us Folk

  • Show Information

Devon-based Richard Chappell Dance returns with Us Folk, a joyful and exhilarating fusion of world-class dance and powerful modern folk music.

Featuring dancers, musicians, and poets, Richard Chappell blends contemporary dance, ballet and improvisation into an expressive and uplifting performance. The work is set to a richly layered soundtrack featuring live music by Ben Moss, guitarist for Grace Petrie, and electronic music duo Larch with samples from the internationally acclaimed Treorchy Male Voice Choir, known for collaborations with artists including Tom Jones, Andrea Bocelli, and Shirley Bassey.

Reimagining folk culture’s traditions for a more inclusive present, Us Folk is rooted in nature and community and celebrates the power of social dancing to reconnect us with one another and the world around us.
