The Albatross

  • Show Information

The Albatross Inn sits on the edge of the North Devon cliffs, battered by sea air and storms, a place where stories linger long after the people who lived them have gone.

Twelve years ago, a young man named Casper Jones disappeared from the cliffs above the pub. In the years since, the people who knew him have tried to make sense of what happened – building lives, relationships, and even a charity in his name. But memory is rarely simple, and the past has a habit of resurfacing when it’s least convenient.

When an unexpected crisis brings the group back together at the Albatross, old loyalties are tested and long-held versions of the truth begin to unravel. As the storm gathers outside, the characters are forced to confront what they remember, what they’ve chosen to forget, and the stories they’ve told themselves in order to move on.

The Albatross is a play about grief, responsibility, and the complicated ways people carry the past with them. With humour and tension sitting side by side, it explores how communities respond to tragedy – and what happens when the narrative everyone has agreed upon falls apart.
