Manic
Written and performed by Raina Greifer, directed by Pippa Thornton
Winner of Best Solo Show at FUSE International 2022
Hi. My name is Raina. I don’t like when people see me naked and then don’t talk to me.
When Raina arrives at her spoken word gig to see her exes in the audience, all the questions she’s had about her past sexual experiences begin to surface. A show about bad sex and the murky parts of consent, expect impromptu burlesque, PowerPoint presentations, Michael Cera cameos, cringe, and desperation.
Sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking, MANIC combines spoken word, DIY puppetry, and TedTalk comedy to ask whether it is possible to say you were violated without implicating a partner.
“A powerful yet harrowing experience, Manic is an important addition to the conversation of sexual inequality.”
