Elevate Festival: From Movement to Meaning

Katie Lusby presents

  • Show Information

Come and join us for this physical theatre workshop where we explore how stories, characters, and scenes can emerge from the body in motion. Drawing on her experience with companies such as Gecko and Punchdrunk, Katie will guide the group through dynamic and playful exercises that use movement as the starting point for both improvising and devising. Open to performers and makers from all backgrounds, come ready to move and create as we dive into the exciting world of physical storytelling.

Based in Cornwall, Katie is a dance and theatre artist with over 15 years of experience as a performer, educator, and creative collaborator. She has worked with internationally acclaimed companies such as Gecko, Punchdrunk, and Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, and with celebrated choreographers including James Cousins, Ellen Kane, and Akram Khan (London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony). Recent credits as a choreographer and movement director include The Farewell Show by Men Are Singing, and Mountview’s end of year showcase at the Phoenix in Exeter. Katie has also recently launched a fully funded artist development initiative called Creative Rise Cornwall, dedicated to supporting the region’s early career dance and theatre artists.
