The Sugar Syndrome

by Lucy Prebble
directed by Madeleine Vose

Wed 17 & Thurs 18 November 7.30pm

Fearless 17 year old Dani passes her time meeting strangers on the web while her mother looks the other way. In this story of adolescence and fractured identity, Dani delights in pretending to be what she is not and gets a wake up call when she discovers that you don’t need to be touched to be hurt.

This powerful play is produced by Devon theatre company ScriptUnscript, the producer behind Exeter's popular Theatre Upstairs at the Globe till it closed its doors in February 2009. The company is back with Lucy Prebble's first play which premiered at the Royal Court in 2003. As her sell-out west end hit Enron begins its national tour, this is a unique opportunity to see the award winning young playwright's debut play in its first professional UK revival.

'I like the internet.  I like that way of talking to people.  It's honest.  It's a place where people are free to say anything they like.'
