"Everyone can do theatre - even actors. And theatre can be done everywhere, even inside theatres"
Augusto Boal
Augusto Boal was a Brazilian theatre director and founder of the Theatre of the Oppressed, a theatrical form originally used in radical popular education movements. Theatre of the Oppressed redefined theatre as a popular means of interactive expression and a tool for social change. Forum Theatre is a means to this end, breaking down the boundary between performers and audience. The workhops will give an insight into Boal's techniques whilst also looking at site specific theatre.

"Thank you so much for the fascinating talk and tour you arranged for us on Monday afternoon which I enjoyed very much. Having moved from Bath, where we enjoyed the Theatre Royal productions, to Exeter just before the Northcott closed for renovation work, we had stopped our theatre-going, but the visit inspired me to renew our interest."
